Huskers Finish Day Two at Drake Invite



Des Moines, Iowa —The Nebraska women’s tennis team finished day two, and headed to the finals round tomorrow morning. 

 

Freshmen Jillian Roa and Lucy Loy had another successful day as Huskers. Roa defeated North Dakota’s Andrea Jansson 6-4, 5-7, [10-7] and continued to dominate in her second match against Bluejay Sarah Wilcox 0-6,5-3,[10-8].  Loy won her first matchup against UNO Brooke Covington 6-1 6-0, and lost her second match of the day against Creighton freshman Siri Kongara 6-2, 7-5.

Sophomore Vivien Sandberg fought hard against Natalie Kmoskova 6-1,6-1 but fell short. Sandberg withdrew from tournament due to injury. 

Fellow sophomore Chloe Kuckelman defeats first match against Daria Walczak 6-1, 6-2 . Kuckelman gained another win in the second match of the day against Habiba Aly of South Dakota 6-4, 1-6. In the 2020-21 season, Aly primarily played the No. 2 spot for the Coyotes. 

 

Finishing singles play was junior Samantha Alicea with the win against Rachel Osborn 6-1 4-2 Ret [inj]. Defeated Nina Zdravkovic 6-4 3-6 [13-11]In her second match up of day two.
