Walters: Husker Stock is Down, Which is Why it’s The Perfect Time to Buy

Nebraska offensive coordinator Troy Walters had money on his mind Wednesday afternoon – at least in a manner of speaking. After the Huskers got done practicing at the Hawks Championship Center, Walters spoke to the media.

The 0-6 record could be a blemish to potential recruits but it could also be a blessing to the certain type of player the coaching staff is looking at. “I ask them [potential recruits] if they understand the stock market… you want to buy a stock when the stock is down,” Walters said.

“Right now, we’re down so to speak,” Walters continued. “In a year, two years… we’re going to be all right. We’re going to be at the top. Now’s the time to jump in.”

Of course, all of that doesn’t alleviate the pain the Husker’s have gone through this season. “They’re mad. They’re frustrated,” Walters said. “They know they’re close, and they want this to be the week.”

On Saturday, the Huskers are playing Minnesota at home in Memorial Stadium. Even with the winless record, Nebraska is actually favored to win according to betting markets. As of right now, the spread is placed at four points in the Husker’s favor.

Spreads don’t win football games. That much is obvious. However, a potential win couldn’t be any sweeter to this team, desperate to salvage something out of a season that has seemingly been one bad break after another.
