Steinforth Leads Huskers on First Day at Jim Click Shootout



Five Huskers kicked off the multis at the Jim Click Shootout in Tucson, Ariz. on Thursday. Till Steinforth highlighted the day with a trio of wins, bringing him to second in the standings with 4,233 total decathlon points.

Steinforth tabbed five personal-bests on Thursday, opening the decathlon with an 100m victory in 10.69. Steinforth went on to win the long jump with a personal-best mark of 25-2 (7.67m). In the shot put, Steinforth threw for 45-9 (13.94m) to add another win. He closed the day with a third-place finish in the high jump with a personal-best 6-4 3/4 (1.95m) and a runner-up finish in the 400m with a personal-best 49.42. 

Kolby Heinerikson placed fifth in the decathlon long jump and shot put with marks of 21-4 (6.50m) and 41-5 3/4 (12.64m), respectively. In the high jump, Heinerikson cleared 6-4 3/4 (1.95m) to place sixth.

Madi Scholl cleared a personal-best 5-9 3/4 (1.77m) in the heptathlon high jump to place first. Scholl added a personal-best effort in the heptathlon shot put, finishing sixth with a 38-7 3/4 (11.78m). In the heptathlon 100m hurdles, Kerrigan Myers crossed the line at 14.07 to win it. Favour Wanjoku clocked a 25.25 in the heptathlon 200m to finish fifth.

After day one, Madi Scholl sits in sixth in the overall heptathlon standings with 3,148 points.

Events are set to resume tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. (CT), starting with the decathlon 110m hurdles.
