Huskers Kick Off Outdoor Season with Record-Breaking Performances

Nebraska’s track and field team made a strong start to their outdoor campaign, showcasing impressive performances at multiple events across the country. Competing in the Florida Relays, Stanford Invitational, and Mike Fanelli Track Classic, the Huskers secured four all-time marks, signaling a promising start to the outdoor season.

Eniko Sara led the charge with a standout performance in the javelin throw at the Florida Relays. Sara’s personal-best throw of 177-11 (54.23m) secured her the win and earned her a spot on the all-time list, ranking ninth in school history. Emmanuela Casadei and Mirta Kulisic also delivered strong performances, finishing second and fifth, respectively, in the event.

In the hammer throw, Hillevi Carlsson impressed with a mark of 203-11 (62.16m), securing the fifth-best throw in school history. Cammy Garabian also made her mark with an eighth-place finish in the event. On the men’s side, Max Herman and Seth Schnakenberg delivered top-ten performances in the hammer throw.

Mine De Klerk made an immediate impact in the discus throw, recording the sixth-best mark in school history with a throw of 181-0 (55.17m). Kalynn Meyer joined De Klerk with a strong performance, claiming seventh place in the event.

The women’s long jump saw Lishanna Ilves and Ashley McElmurry secure third and sixth place, respectively, while Kavian Kerr impressed on the men’s side with a ninth-place finish.

Mason Kooi and Reid Nelson represented the Huskers well in the men’s high jump, both securing top-five finishes in the open section.

In the women’s pole vault, Jessica Gardner delivered a solid performance, tying for sixth place with a clearance of 12-11 ½ (3.95m).

On the track, Cory Berg and Joseph Clifford posted impressive finishes in the 400m hurdles, while Abrielle Artley and Karlie Moore provided strong performances in the women’s 400m hurdles.

At the Stanford Invitational, Berlyn Schutz entered the outdoor all-time list with a strong performance in the 1500m, while Sadio Fenner and Taya Skelton showcased their talent in the steeplechase events. Brynna McQuillen led the way for Nebraska in the women’s 5000m.

At the Mike Fanelli Track Classic, Holden Ruse and Lindsey Blehm delivered solid performances in the 400m and 1500m events, respectively.
