🎯 Nebraska Rifle Team Eyes Victory in Lincoln 🎯

Lincoln, NE – The University of Nebraska’s No. 7 ranked rifle team (4-6, 2-1 PRC) is gearing up for an exciting home match against the formidable Georgia Southern Eagles (10-1, 5-0 SoCon) this Saturday, January 20. The contest, starting at 8 a.m. (CT) at the Nebraska Rifle Range, promises to be a thrilling encounter for rifle enthusiasts. Fans can stay updated with live results here. Admission to the event, held in the basement of the Military and Naval Sciences building, is free.

🎯 Focused on Improvement and Home Advantage

Head Coach Mindy Miles expressed confidence in the team’s preparation, stating, “The team has worked hard on the problem areas from last week. If we commit to good performances in those areas, the team scores should follow. It’ll be nice to eliminate travel and focus on a good match at home.”

The Huskers are coming off a challenging spring season opener on January 14 against No. 3 Kentucky, where they narrowly fell with a score of 4,723-4,696. Notable performances included sophomore Emma Rhode, who clinched a third-place overall finish with an impressive aggregate score of 1,181, and junior Mackenzie Strauch landing in sixth place with 1,176. Rhode also secured fifth in air rifle and second in the smallbore categories, while Strauch added a commendable third-place finish in smallbore.

🎯 Georgia Southern: A Strong Contender

The visiting Eagles boast an impressive 10-1 season record, with significant wins over top-ranked teams like No. 6 Ole Miss, No. 10 Murray State, and No. 12 Memphis. They hold an average aggregate score of 4,718.22, setting the stage for a highly competitive match.

This will be the second meeting between Nebraska and Georgia Southern, the first being on October 16, 2023, where the Huskers emerged victorious with a 4,677-4,628 win.

🎯 Looking Ahead

Following the face-off with the Eagles, the Huskers will hit the road to El Paso, Texas, for a two-day competition against the UTEP Miners on January 27-28.
