Huskers Travel to Maryland and Rutgers

The No. 33 Nebraska Cornhuskers women’s tennis team (9-4 Big Ten) is scheduled for two road matches this weekend at Maryland and Rutgers.
The Huskers are looking to bounce back after a hard-fought loss at Iowa where the Huskers won the doubles point but, fell to the Hawkeyes 4-2.
 
Huskers Dominate in Doubles
The Huskers double point at Iowa marks the team’s tenth doubles point this season, including a 5 match streak between February 14th and March 5th. 

Scouting Maryland

Maryland kicked off the season by traveling to East Lansing, Michigan for a match against Michigan State. The Terrapins struggled, falling to their first 11 B1G Ten opponents before taking Indiana down 4-3. The Terrapins are 1-12 overall this season (1-11 BIG).

The Huskers will need to overcome undefeated duo Ayana Akli and Eva Alexandrova who are currently ranked No. 76 in doubles. Akli and Alexandrova are also ranked individually as No. 29 and No. 84, respectively. 

  

Scouting Rutgers

The Scarlet Knights opened up the 2021 season with a match in Ann Arbor, Michigan against Michigan. The team found their first victory of the season against Michigan State in early March and has since managed victories over Indiana and Maryland. Rutgers currently sits 3-10 in B1G play. 

Rutgers doubles partners Tess Fisher and Alisa Prinyarux are coming off their sixth victory of the season. Fisher is also the Big Ten Athlete of the Week after helping Rutgers to a 4-0 victory over Maryland, securing three singles six doubles victories in league play.
