Huskers Sign Jillian Roa – University of Nebraska

The Nebraska Women’s Tennis program has received a commitment for the class of 2021. Jillian Roa, born in Arizona and currently living in Spain, signed her National Letter of Intent to compete for the Huskers.

Roa chose Nebraska after considering offers from Michigan State, Colorado, and Louisville.

Jillian moved to Europe with her family when she was 13 years old and has many outstanding accomplishments overseas. She was consistently ranked inside the top 100 in Europe in Under 14 and Under 16 youth categories. Her success includes a tournament win in a Junior ITF in Macedonia, as well as being a finalist in La Lucia, South Africa.

Her most recent success includes 5 wins over individuals with Universal tennis Ratings above 10.00. During this period, Roa defeated an ITF world ranked Junior ranked 147. Roa’s present Universal Tennis Rating is an impressive 10.12

She is currently training with the Global Tennis Team, an International Tennis Academy, located in Mallorca, Spain.

Coach Jacobson on Jillian’s choosing Nebraska: “Jillian is a crafty baseliner, with a good feel for the game, and a tremendously strong mind. Her recent success is a reflection of her constant, and consistent commitment to tournament play. In Jillian, Nebraska is receiving an individual that is driven, passionate, and completely committed to growing her game! As a person, we believe Jillian to be an optimist by nature, and someone who will fit In extremely well with the philosophy of our program!”
