Huskers Set to Host Washington State, Minnesota



The Nebraska women’s tennis is set to host two home matches this week as it welcomes Washington State on Friday at 3 p.m. CT and Minnesota on Sunday at 11 a.m CT at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center. The live stream will be available on huskers.com. Updates will also be posted on Twitter at @HuskerWTennis.

Scouting Washington State

• The Cougars finished last season with an overall record of 8-15, including a 2-8 conference record. 

• This is Head Coach Raquel Atawo’s second year with Washington State.

• NU Associate Head Coach Lisa Hart was the head coach at Washington State for 17 years from 2003-2020 before joining the Huskers.

• Washington State has a roster of three freshmen, four sophomores, one junior and one fifth-year senior. 

Series History 

• NU has a 2-1 overall record against the Cougars.

• The last time Nebraska met Washington State on the court was in 2019 and the Huskers lost the match 4-1. 

Scouting Minnesota

• The Golden Gophers finished the 2021-22 season with an overall record of 18-10, including a 6-7 conference record.

• This is Head Coach Catrina Thompson’s sixth year as Head Coach for Minnesota. 

• This is Assistant Coach Jaan Kononov’s first year with the Golden Gophers. 

• Minnesota has a balanced roster of three freshmen, one sophomore, one junior, one senior and one graduate student. 

Series History

• The Huskers have a 11-4 overall record against the Golden Gophers.

• The last time the two teams met on the court, NU won the match 6-1.

The Huskers will stay home to host Colorado on Friday, Feb. 24 at 12 p.m. CT and Wyoming on Feb. 26 at 10 a.m. CT.
