Huskers Secure No. 2 Seed Heading Into Final Day of Bearcat Hammer Open



Fairview, Ill. – The Nebraska Bowling team went 3-2 on Saturday, making their record 6-2 at the Bearcat Hammer Open. The Huskers finished the day with a pinfall of 9,539 securing their position in second place.

Nebraska started their traditional matches with a loss to McKendree (974-1,002). The Huskers came back in their second and third matches to collect wins against Quincy (1,037-879) and Drury (955-787). They lost their fourth match to Lewis (886-930). Nebraska ended the day with a win against Carroll (942-727).

Four Huskers currently sit in the top 25 based on their individual standings. Senior Cassidy Ray sits in 3rd (1,001). Junior Kendyl Hofmeister sits in 6th (983) closely followed by Sophomore Kayla Verstraete in 8th (974). Junior Crystal Elliott sits in 17th (936) and Graduate Student Michelle Guarro is 28th (900). 

Sunday morning, No. 2 seed Nebraska will begin tournament play against No. 1 seed Arkansas State.
