Three Huskers Earn NTCA All-American Honors

Three members of the University of Nebraska bowling team have been selected to the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) All-American teams. Sophomore Jillian Martin earned a spot on the first team, senior Kayla Verstraete was named to the third team, and freshman Brenna Hartzler received honorable mention.

Martin, who was named NTCA Rookie of the Year last season, secured her second consecutive first-team selection. She averaged 205.1 pins across 44 games this season, the highest among the Huskers during the regular season. Martin recorded three top-five finishes and four top-10 finishes, including a runner-up placement at the Flyer Classic. She averaged over 200 pins in six of the nine tournaments and rolled a season-high 269 at the Prairie View A&M Invite.

Verstraete earned her third NTCA All-American honor, having been named to the second team in 2021 and the third team in 2022. The senior finished the 2023-24 season with an average of 202.9, highlighted by a first-place finish at the Prairie View A&M Invite. She also recorded a 10th-place finish at the Northeast Classic and averaged over 200 pins in three of the nine tournaments this season.

Hartzler, who was also named to the First Team All-Rookie in the central region, received her first NTCA All-American selection. The freshman was the only Husker to compete in all 46 games across the nine regular-season tournaments. She posted one top-five finish and four top-10 finishes, including a runner-up placement at the MOTIV Penguin Classic. Hartzler was the highest-placing Husker in two tournaments this season and eclipsed the 1,000-pin mark in five of her nine tournaments.

The Huskers’ bowling team continues to demonstrate its strength and depth, with three athletes earning national recognition for their outstanding performances this season.
