Huskers Hit the Road to Continue Conference Play

The Nebraska women’s tennis team will face two Big Ten foes this weekend as they travel to Purdue on Saturday and Indiana on Sunday. Saturday’s match is set for 12 p.m. (CT) and Sunday’s match will begin at 11 a.m (CT).

Scouting Purdue 

• The Boilermakers finished the 2021 season with a 6-11 overall record, including a 6-10 record in the Big 10 conference play.

• Purdue’s Head Coach Laura Glitz is the winningest coach in the women’s program.     

• Purdue is currently 1-1 in the Big 10 and ranked No. 65 nationally.  

Series History with Purdue

• Purdue leads the overall series, 4-6. The teams last faced each other on Feb. 26, 2021 at the Sid Dillon Tennis Center with the Huskers winning, 6-1. 

Scouting Indiana

• Indiana finished the 2020-21 season with a 1-16 overall record, including a 1-15 record in the Big 10 conference play.

• Hoosiers’ Head Coach Ramiro Azcui was a former assistant coach for 24 years prior to being named head coach in 2017.     

• Indiana is currently 0-2 in conference play. 

Series History with Indiana

• The Huskers lead the overall series, 4-3 and won the last matchup between the teams, 5-2. 

Up Next

• The Huskers will host No. 35 Northwestern on April 1 at 5 p.m.at the Sid Dillon and Hazel Tennis Center. 

Makoric Enters ITA Rankings

• For the first time this season, Maja Makoric breaks into the rankings at No. 110.  

• Makoric is 9-4 overall in singles play and has a ranked win over No. 60 Sydni Ratliff. 

Two Freshmen Join Nebraska

• Lucy Loy, a native of Fishers, Ind., played club tennis at Indianapolis Racquet Club for Coach Jamie Dieveney and competed for Fishers High School, under Coach Dave Heffern. A four-time letterwinner, Loy received all-state honorable mention in 2018, second team all-state honors in 2019 and first team all-state honors in 2021. Loy was a regional finalist in 2019 and a state semifinalist in 2021. On the club side, Loy was a Midwest level 2 and 3 doubles winner and a level 3 singles winner.

• A native of La Crescenta, Calif., Jillian Roa was a standout player in high school where she won the singles junior ITF title in Skopje, Macedonia. She was also regional U18 Champion of the Balearic Islands and reached the singles finals in a junior ITF in La Nucia, Spain
