Wisconsin Invitational Friday Results – University of Nebraska

The Nebraska women’s tennis team wrapped up day one at the Wisconsin Invitational on Friday afternoon. NU began the day with doubles matches against Minnesota, dropping two matches and winning one. Isabel Adrover Gallego and Claire Reifeis picked up a 7-6 (4) win over the Golden Gophers. Adrover Gallego and Reifeis were a dominant pair in 2020, going 4-1 as a team. 

Later in the day, Nebraska met Wisconsin for the singles matchups with both the Huskers and Badgers winning three matches. Kristina Novak defeated Xinyu Cai in a neck and neck three-set match, 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (5). Chloe Kuckelman overcame a first set loss to take down Anna Makarova 3-6, 6-4, 6-0. Freshman Maja Makoric recorded her first win as a Husker with a 7-5, 6-3 triumph over Charmaine Seah. 

The Huskers also played two singles matches against Iowa. Jessica Aragon defeated Danielle Bauers in straight sets 6-4, 6-0. Senior Emma Worley fell to Ashleigh Jacobs in a tight three-set match, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4. 

Action picks back up tomorrow as Nebraska faces Wisconsin in doubles at 1 p.m., followed by singles against Iowa.
