The Nebraska women’s tennis team will host the Golden Gophers this week at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. (CT).

Scouting Minnesota 

• The Gophers finished the 2020-21 season with a 6-13 overall record, including a 4-12 record in Big 12 conference play.

• Minnesota is ranked No. 3 in Big ten Standings for the 2021-22 season.   

• Minnesota coming in at No. 37 for ITA rankings as of Feb. 23. 

Series History with Minnesota 

• The Huskers lead the overall series, 10-4. The teams last faced each other on March 19, 2021 at the Sid Dillon Tennis Center.

• The Huskers are currently on a two match win streak against the Gophers.

Novak Ranked No. 108 in ITA

• Kristina Novak is 11-6 in singles play this season, including a ranked win over No. 45 Julia Adams of Furman.

• The sophomore from Slovenia has competed out of the No. 1 spot for the Huskers in every match this season.

Two Freshmen Join Nebraska

• Lucy Loy, a native of Fishers, Ind., played club tennis at Indianapolis Racquet Club for Coach Jamie Dieveney and competed for Fishers High School, under Coach Dave Heffern. A four-time letterwinner, Loy received all-state honorable mention in 2018, second team all-state honors in 2019 and first team all-state honors in 2021. Loy was a regional finalist in 2019 and a state semifinalist in 2021. On the club side, Loy was a Midwest level 2 and 3 doubles winner and a level 3 singles winner.

• A native of La Crescenta, Calif., Jillian Roa was a standout player in high school where she won the singles junior ITF title in Skopje, Macedonia. She was also regional U18 Champion of the Balearic Islands and reached the singles finals in a junior ITF in La Nucia, Spain
