Nebraska Could Schedule Additional Game

Nebraska Athletic Director Bill Moos released a statement Sunday afternoon expressing disappointment over the Akron cancellation, and opened up the possibility for a make-up game.

“Everyone associate with last night’s season opener is disappointed that the weather did not cooperate, and were unable to play the game,” Moos said. “During the delay, there were numerous scenarios discussed for contingency plans for playing the game, including a scenario to play the game Sunday.” However, due to “logistical challenges,” Akron was unable to play the game on Sunday, Moos said.

Moos asked that fans “hold onto their tickets” in the event a game were to be “added later in the season.” Thus far, there is no indication of exactly when that game would take place, or against whom. However, it is likely that the game would fall during Nebraska’s bye week on October 27th or on December 1st – the day of the Big 10 Championship game – if Nebraska were not to make it.
