Husker News: Spring Game Thoughts, Baseball Series Win, and Huskers Shut Out of NFL Draft

It was a busy weekend to be a Husker fan.

Or a weather watcher.

Nasty weather made its way through the southeast part of Nebraska on Friday. One of the tornadoes came within a mile of the Ranchhands’ house in Lincoln. Many others were not so lucky and took a direct hit.

About 12 years ago, a tornado hit our house, causing significant damage. It was not enough to force us to move out while making repairs, but it was a long time in getting everything back to normal. My heart aches for everyone facing that and much worse right now.

We were fortunate to have a lot of friends and family help us get everything cleaned up and back to normal. I hope the same for everyone affected.

Husker Football Spring Game

So, the quarterback hype train isn’t slowing down is it? Are you drinking the Kool-Aid or have you been burned by too much offseason hype to think Husker football is on its way back?

(I’m definitely in the ‘wait and see’ camp FWIW)

Congratulations Husker fans. Your team won and your team lost.

That is, unless you were pulling for the White team then you won 25-21. If you were pulling for team Red then you are a loser. Sorry,…

NFL Draft

No Huskers were drafted this year.

FIRE EVERYONE!!!

(or blame it on Scott Frost)

Several Huskers did sign undrafted free agent (UDFA) deals with teams. Who do you think has the best chance to stick on a roster?

I am definitely biased, but I’m going with Omar Brown signing with the Broncos. Denver needs some safety depth and they have a long track record of having UDFA players make the 53 man roster. Plus, they gave him the largest guaranteed contract of their UDFAs.

Rain rain, go away.

Husker softball likely saw their NCAA tournament chances slip away this weekend. They lost the Friday game 6-5 to Northwestern and then lost the first Saturday game 8-1. Nebraska was leading 5-0 when the second Saturday game was suspended in the fourth inning.

Attempts to finish the game on Sunday were for naught as lightning delays kept pushing potential start times back and the Wildcats had to head for home. That third game was not long enough to become official.
