Huskers Travel To Michigan, Host Michigan State This Weekend

The No. 52 Nebraska women’s tennis team (12-8, 5-3 Big Ten) is set to face Michigan and Michigan State this weekend. The Huskers will travel to Michigan to face the Wolverines on Friday followed by a matchup against Michigan State at home on Sunday.

Scouting Michigan

• The Wolverines finished the 2020-21 season with a 19-4 overall record, including a 15-1 record in the Big 10 conference play.

• Ronni Bernstein is in her 15th season as head coach and has led the Wolverines to nine Big Ten championships and three Big Ten Tournament titles. 

• Michigan is currently 6-1 in conference play.

Series History with Michigan

• The Huskers have yet to defeat Michigan as the Wolverines lead the overall series, 8-0. 

Scouting Michigan State

• The Spartans finished the 2020-21 season with a 7-12 overall record and had a 6-10 record in Big 10 conference play.

• Head Coach Kim Bruno is in her fifth season with the Spartans.  

• Michigan State is currently 1-6 in the conference with its last loss coming against Michigan earlier this month. 

Series History with Michigan State

• MSU holds a 6-2 lead in the overall series with the Spartans taking the last six matchups between the teams. 

Huskers See Success in the Conference Play 

• Currently, the Huskers are 5-3 in conference play and have recent wins over Rutgers and No. 69 Maryland. 

• Last season, Nebraska played a conference-only schedule and recorded five wins in its first six games of the season. 

The Fierce Duo  

• Maja Makoric and Kristina Novak have not lost as a doubles duo since January 29 against Duke. 

• The have played every match for the Huskers at the No. 1 spot and are currently 10-1 on the season.
