Huskers Set for Lindsey Ferris Invitational



The Nebraska women’s gymnastics team travels to Washington, D.C. this weekend to take on George Washington, Cornell and William and Mary in the Lindsey Ferris Invitational. The meet will take place Sunday, Jan. 15 at 12 p.m. (CT). 

 

The Huskers last faced the George Washington in 2022, when GW claimed the victory over NU at the Masters Classic. This marks the first meeting with William and Mary since 2007 and the first against Cornell since 2000. The Big Red claimed the victories in both of those meetings. 

 

Last Time Out

NU opened the 2023 season against No. 15 Arkansas, falling to the Razorbacks, 196.225-195.000. 

 

Emma Spence led the Huskers claiming the floor and all-around titles. Spence had a career-high 9.875 on floor en route to a 39.325 all-around score. Newcomer Sophia McClelland also earned an individual title after notching a 9.900 on balance beam. 
 

Scouting the Competition

This marks the first meet of the 2023 season for George Washington, Cornell and William and Mary.  

 

George Washington returns one NCAA Regional qualifier in junior Kendall Whitman. Whitman competed on floor, earning a 9.750. 

 

Cornell and William and Mary are both members of the GEC Conference. Cornell finished sixth at the conference championships in 2022 while William and Mary finished in seventh.
