Huskers Ready for Big Ten Championships

The Nebraska women’s gymnastics team (6-10, 4-4 Big Ten) travel to Columbus, Ohio, for the Big Ten Championships this Saturday, March 19. The Huskers will compete in the afternoon session starting at 11 a.m. CT against No. 23 Iowa, Penn State, Rutgers, No. 19 Illinois and No. 20 Maryland. 

 

Last Time Out

NU is coming off of a fourth-place finish at the quad meet in Denver against No. 14 DU (196.800), No. 12 Oregon State (196.875) and No. 18 Arkansas (196.975). The Huskers finished with a 195.750.

 

Scouting the Competition

The Huskers will face the Hawkeyes and Terrapins for the second time after falling in close matchups to both teams. No. 23 Iowa are coming off of a loss to No. 10 California (197.900-196.175). No. 20 Maryland has won the last four meets including a 197.025 showing at a quad meet against George Washington, Penn and Bridgeport. 

 

Illinois and Nebraska met in a regular season dual at the Devaney Center when the Huskers claimed the 195.500-194.450. The Fighting Illini are coming off of a second place finish in a quad meet, falling to Missouri, but notching a 197.275.

 

NU will face Rutgers and Penn State in a rematch after tallying the win against the Knights and Nittany Lions at the Big Five meet. Rutgers (196.400) and Penn State (196.550) are both coming off wins to finish their regular season.
