Huskers Open Weekend at Minnesota

The Nebraska swimming and diving team opens a busy weekend on the road by battling Minnesota at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center in Minneapolis on Friday at 5 p.m. (CT).

Live video of Nebraska’s dual with the Golden Gophers will be available for subscribers of B1G+. Live results will also be available through the Meet Mobile App.

The Huskers head to Minnesota with a 2-0 dual record, including a 1-0 mark in the Big Ten after rolling to a 193-59 win over Iowa last Saturday at the Devaney Center Natatorium. It marked the largest margin of victory in a Big Ten dual in Nebraska history.

The Gophers are 1-0 on the young season, including a 156-104 dual win over the Hawkeyes in Iowa City on Oct. 8.

Last season, Minnesota defeated Nebraska 193-107, in the first dual meet between the two schools since the Huskers joined the Big Ten in 2011-12. In fact, prior to 2020-21, the last time Nebraska and Minnesota met in a regular-season dual came on Jan. 16, 2000, when the Gophers posted a 170-130 win in Minneapolis.

Last season, Minnesota played host to the swimming portion of the Big Ten Championships and finished sixth with 555 points, just ahead of Nebraska in seventh with 542.5 points. At the 2021 NCAA Championships, Minnesota finished 24th (40 points), while Nebraska took 26th (33 points).

Following Friday’s meet at Minnesota, the Huskers will travel to Iowa State to clash with Cyclones on Saturday at 11 a.m.
