Huskers Move to Final Day at B1G Championship

Carmel, Ind. – The Nebraska men’s golf team had a better scoring day in the second round of the Big Ten Championship at Crooked Stick Golf Club on Saturday.

The Huskers were 12 strokes better over the second 18 holes than they were on the opening day of the conference tournament, and head to the final round in 12th place with a two-round score of 622 in the five-count-four format. NU’s round was the ninth-best of the day, but the Huskers were unable to climb the leader board. However, the Big Red moved into position to make a potential move with a strong final round.

Jack Lundin rebounded from a rough first round to lead the Huskers with a 74 (+2) on Saturday. The freshman from Sioux Falls, S.D., shot a 34 (-2) over his final nine holes, including an eagle on the 530-yard, par-5 ninth hole.

Caleb Badura (Aurora, Neb.) also put together a solid second round with a 75 (+3), including seven consecutive pars to close the round. Tom Westenberger (Wuppertal, Germany) contributed a 77 (+5) with a round that included 15 pars.

Mark Foelbaek (Jelling, Denmark) and Will Marshall (Elburn, Ill.) each added second-round scores of 79 to complete NU’s team scoring. Foelbaek heads to the final round in the top position among Nebraska golfers on the individual leader board in a tie for 30th at 155 (76-79).

Sunday’s final round will begin for the Huskers on No. 10 at 7:45 a.m. Nebraska will be paired with Michigan and Wisconsin over the final 18 holes of the championship. Live scoring will be provided by GolfStat.com.
