Scheve Secures Top Five, Marshall 19th



Urbana, Ill. – Gentry Scheve captured a career-best fourth place finish as Nebraska closed out their regular season at the Fighting Illini Spring Collegiate Sunday. 

Scheve closed his run in Illinois with a 74 (+3), which included an eagle on the 11th hole and two birdies. His fourth-place finish is his first career top five or top 10, as his previous best came at the Tiger Collegiate April 11. 

Will Marshall finished in 19th, his third straight top-25 finish and sixth of his career. The senior from Ellburn. Ill. finished with a 74 (+3), aided by three birdies. 

As a team, Nebraska finished in sixth place with a team-score of 890 (297-297-296). The Huskers placed ahead of Big Ten foes Indiana and Michigan, who they will see again next week at Big Ten Championships. 

Grant Jabenis climbed the leaderboards Sunday with an even-par 71 and finished just outside the top-25 in 27th. The sophomore from Omaha, Neb. carded a clean round which included 15 pars, two birdies and only one double-bogey and produced a three-round score of 226 (+13). 

Davis Johnson and Caleb Badura finished with the same three-round score of 230 (+17) as both placed 40th. Badura competed as an individual outside the Nebraska lineup, but produced a final-round 72 (+1). 

Evan McDermott finished his tournament with a 76 (+5). He improved in every round (78-77-76) and placed tied for 45th as an individual. 

Reed Malleck rounded out the Husker contingent at 18 strokes over par with a total aggregate score of 238 (+25). 

Illinois captured the team title at their home course at Atkins Golf Club. The Illini finished as the only team under-par for the 54-hole tournament at 850 (-2). Three of five in their lineup finished in the top five individually, led by Adrien Dumont de Chassart, who captured his fourth career title.
