Huskers Host 46th Annual Frank Sevigne Husker Invite



The Nebraska track and field team hosts the 46th annual Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational this weekend at the Devaney Center Indoor Track. Action begins on Friday with the men’s weight throw at 4 p.m., while the track events start at 5 p.m. with the 60m hurdles prelims. The meet concludes on Saturday with the track events starting at 11 a.m., followed by the field events at 11:30 a.m.
 
20 teams are scheduled to compete at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational. The 19 teams joining the Huskers include Drake, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Northern Iowa, Oklahoma, South Dakota State, Washington, Nebraska-Kearney, Wayne State, Central Methodist, Concordia, Dakota Wesleyan, Doane, Dordt, Morningside, Butler CC, Cloud County CC and Iowa Central CC.
 
Two nationally ranked men’s teams will be competing at the Husker Invitational, along with two of the top women’s teams in the country. The ranked teams on the men’s side are the 12th-ranked Huskers and No. 20 Washington. The women’s field includes No. 13 Washington and No. 23 Oklahoma.
 
Huskers Climbing Top 10 All-Time Chart
Eight Huskers have combined to reach the top 10 of the all-time indoor records in program history in 11 events this season. Alex Talley set the school record in the weight throw in his Husker debut at the K-State Winter Invitational and sits fifth in the shot put. Darius Luff is tied for fourth in program history in the 60m hurdles, while Henry Zimmerman is sixth in the weight throw. In their first season at Nebraska, Maxwell Otterdahl is seventh in the weight throw and 10th in the shot put, while Till Steinforth sits fifth in the heptathlon.
 
On the women’s side, Taylor Latimer set the school record in the weight throw at the Graduate Classic and is also ninth in the shot put. Axelina Johansson climbed to fourth all-time in the shot put, while Marika Spencer moved up to sixth in the weight throw.
