Huskers Hit the Road to Face Tulsa, Wichita State



The Nebraska men’s tennis team (4-2, 0-0 Big Ten) embarks on a two-match road trip against Tulsa on Friday at 6 p.m. and at Wichita State on Sunday at noon. Live stream and stats will be available on huskers.com, and updates will be posted on @HuskerMTennis on Twitter. 
 
Scouting Tulsa (4-2, 0-0 American Athletic) 
• The Golden Hurricanes enter their week of play on a three-game winning streak after starting the season 1-2. 
• Tulsa is 3-1 at home this season, which has proved to be an area of strength for them recently. In 2022, the team posted a 10-4 home record. 
• Senior Kody Pearson is Tulsa’s top singles player, ranked nationally at No. 58. In 2022-23, he is 6-1 in singles and 6-3 in doubles.
• Pearson, along with Connor Di Marco, make up the No. 51 ranked doubles pair in the country. 
 
Series History Against Tulsa
Nebraska is 0-4 all-time against Tulsa, with their last meeting coming in Oklahoma in 2010. 
 
Scouting Wichita State (5-5, 0-0 American Athletic) 
• The Shockers enter its matchup against Nebraska after beating Denver 4-3 on Sunday. 
• Wichita State has one ranked player, sophomore Kristof Minarik, who is No. 97 in singles play. All seven of his singles appearances have come in the No. 1 position, and he has a 2-2 record with three of those matches going unfinished.  
 
Series History Against Wichita State 
Nebraska is 16-6 all-time against the Shockers. The two teams last played in Lincoln in 2022, which the Huskers won 4-3. The Huskers are 7-5 when visiting Wichita. 
 
Quick Notes 
• The Huskers enter these contests on a two-match winning streak after picking up wins against Drake and UCF in Lincoln. 
Roni Hietaranta is ranked No. 109 nationally in singles play.  
• The Huskers won’t host a game at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center until March 11, when they take on Omaha.

After playing Wichita State, the Huskers will compete in the Blue Gray Tournament in Montgomery, Ala., on Friday, Feb. 24 and Saturday, Feb. 25.
