Huskers Defeat Hoosiers, 4-2 – University of Nebraska

Lincoln, Neb. – After winning the doubles point and three singles’ matches, the No. 71 Nebraska women’s tennis team (13-4, 2-2 Big Ten) defeated Indiana (10-7, 1-4 Big Ten) 4-2 at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center on Friday evening. 
 
The match began with doubles play as the No. 2 team of Isabel Adrover Gallego and Ana Carmen Zamburek defeated Alexandra Staiculescu and Nicole Teodosescu, 6-2. On Court 3, Anfisa Danilchenko and Lucy Loy clinched the doubles point and grabbed their first win as a doubles pair against Indiana’s Mila Mejic and Rose Hu, 6-3. Samantha Alicea and Raphaëlle Lacasse battled on Court 1, and the teams were tied 4-4 before the match was called. 
 
The action continued with singles play. On Court 6, Loy bested Lauren Lemonds, 6-2, 6-2. In the No. 1 position, Carmen Zamburek was defeated by IU’s Lara Schneider, 6-3, 6-1. On Court 4, Danilchenko was bested by Staiculescu, 6-2, 6-4 and the overall score was tied 2-2. Nebraska gained the lead back when Lacasse defeated Teodosescu in three sets on Court 5, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2. In the No. 3 position, Alicea bested Mejic and clinched the overall win for Nebraska, 7-6 (4), 3-6, 6-1. The match concluded with an unfinished match on Court 2.
