Big Ten Outdoor Championships Notes

• Heading into the Big Ten Outdoor Championships in Bloomington, Indiana this weekend, the Husker women and men are both among the top favorites to win the team titles.

• The Husker women have not won a conference outdoor title since 2005 in the Big 12, but the Huskers are projected to be in contention at the end with Ohio State, Michigan and Iowa.

• The Husker men were last crowned Big Ten outdoor champions in 2019 and will look to battle Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota for the team title.

• The Husker women have three Big Ten event leaders: Jenna Rogers (high jump), Ieva Turke (triple jump) and Rhema Otabor (javelin). Otabor ranks No. 1 in the NCAA and two-time Big Ten champion Maddie Harris ranks second. Both of them broke the javelin school record this spring.

• For the NU men, Darius Luff is the Big Ten leader in the 110m Hurdles and Arthur Petersen ranks first in the javelin. Petersen and Otabor were both transfers into the program this year who now hold javelin school records.

• The Husker women will be looking to score big in the javelin, triple jump and high jump. NU has the Nos. 1, 2, and 3 Big Ten javelin throwers, Nos. 1, 3, 5 and 7 in the triple jump and Nos. 1, 5, 7 and 8 in the high jump.

• The Husker men should do well across the board but in particular have the most depth in the high jump, shot put and javelin.

• The Huskers collected six Big Ten titles at last year’s outdoor meet and all six are back this year looking to repeat: Mayson Conner (high jump), Maddie Harris (javelin), Maxwell Otterdahl (discus and shot put), Jenna Rogers (high jump) and the men’s 4x400m relay.

The Husker men are ranked 14th after being ranked as high as sixth earlier this season, which was their best outdoor ranking since 2009.
