Huskers Claim Three Event Titles in B1G Matchup



The Nebraska women’s gymnastics team claimed three event titles and set or matched 15 season-high scores Monday night despite falling to Ohio State, 196.350-196.675. 

Sophomore Kinsey Davis led the Huskers with two career-high scores to claim two event titles. Davis earned a 9.875 on vault and a 9.900 on beam. Junior Kathryn Thaler shared the beam title, matching her career-high with a 9.900. Freshman Emma Spence claimed her second career all-around title with a 38.900. 

Rotation One

The Huskers started on vault, earning a season-high team score of 49.150. Kaitlyn Higgins started the rotation with a season-high 9.775. Emma Spence followed with a career-high 9.850. Kylie Piringer earned a season-high 9.825 while Ayzhia Hall notched a 9.700. Kinsey Davis followed with a 9.875, a new career-high for the sophomore, earning a share of the event title. Makayla Curtis rounded out the rotation with a season-high 9.825. 

The Buckeyes started on uneven bars and earned a team score of 49.325. Colby Miller and Nicole Riccardi tied for the highest OSU score, both tallying a 9.925 and claiming the event title. 

Rotation Two

Nebraska had a strong second rotation, posting a team score of 48.850. Kathryn Thaler earned a season-high 9.825 to start the Huskers off. Genesis Gibson followed, adding another 9.825, the freshman’s personal best. Clara Colombo notched a 9.850 while Spence added a 9.550. Kinsey Davis earned a 9.200. Emma Simpton finished the rotation with a personal-best score of 9.800. 

Ohio State competed on vault earning a 49.125. Elexis Edwards and Jenna Hlavach both notched a 9.875, earning a share of the event title. 

Rotation Three

On beam, the Huskers earned a team score of 49.350, the team’s season best. Spence started the rotation with a 9.825, tying her career-high score. Hall followed with an 8.925. Colombo earned a career-high 9.850 while Higgins notched a 9.875. Davis tallied another career-high, finishing with a 9.900. Thaler finished on beam, tying her career-high score of 9.900. Davis and Thaler shared the event title. 

On floor, the Buckeyes earned a team score of 49.175. Alexis Hankins and Elexis Edwards led OSU, both finishing with a 9.925, claiming the floor title. 

Rotation Four

Nebraska finished on floor with a team score of 49.000. Spence started the rotation with a 9.675. Hall followed with a 9.075. Curtis matched her season-high score of 9.850. Piringer earned a 9.725 while Katie Kuenemann finished the night with a career-high 9.850. 

Ohio State finished the night on beam, earning a 49.175. Stephanie Berger led the Buckeyes with a 9.875. 

All-Around Competition 

Emma Spence earned the all-around title after tallying a 38.900.
