Huskers Head East to Take On Terrapins



The Nebraska women’s gymnastics team (2-3, 1-2 Big Ten) travels to College Park, Maryland to take on the Terrapins (2-2, 0-2 Big Ten) on Friday, Feb. 11, at 6 p.m. CT at the XFINITY Center. 

The last time the two teams met was in 2021 when Maryland narrowly won 195.625-195.175. NU currently leads the series 15-3. 

Last Time Out

NU claimed three event titles against Ohio State, despite falling 196.350-196.675. The Huskers saw their highest team score of the season as well as their highest team scores on vault and beam. 

Sophomore Kinsey Davis led the Huskers with two career-high scores to claim two event titles. Davis earned a 9.875 on vault and a 9.900 on beam. Junior Kathryn Thaler shared the beam title, matching her career high with a 9.900. Freshman Emma Spence claimed her second all-around title with a 38.900. 

Scouting the Competition

Maryland opened their season at Pitt in a triangular with LIU, earning their first two wins with a team score of 192.925. The Terrapins opened Big Ten competition against Rutgers, falling 194.925-195.550. Most recently, UM traveled to Michigan State to take on the Spartans, losing in the Big Ten matchup, 195.950-196.875. 

The Terrapins are led by senior Audrey Barber, who has claimed the all-around title at every meet this season. Barber scored a 39.300 against Michigan State. Junior Alexis Rubio leds UM on vault after scoring a 9.875 against MSU while sophomore Olivia Wear leads on beam, scoring a 9.850 against the Spartans.
