Huskers Capture Five Event Titles on Saturday

The Nebraska track and field team wrapped up the weekend’s action at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invite with five event titles and 23 individual top-five finishes on Saturday at the Devaney Center Indoor Track.
 
Axelina Johansson moved to second all-time in program history and third in the nation this season with a mark of 59-9 3/4 (18.23m) to win the shot put. Kalynn Meyer came in fifth with a season-best distance of 51-6 1/2 (15.71m).
 
On the men’s side, Burger Lambrechts Jr. won the shot put and became the Big Ten leader this season with a launch of 65-9 1/2 (20.05m). Alex Talley had a second-place finish of 65-4 (19.91m), followed by Maxwell Otterdahl in fourth (61-0 3/4, 18.61m).
 
Mayson Conner had a season-best clearance of 7-3 (2.21m) to win the high jump, while Lincoln McPhillips placed fourth with a height of 6-8 3/4 (2.05m).
 
Jenna Rogers became the Big Ten leader and moved to eighth nationally with a clearance of 6-0 (1.83m). Rogers is currently tied for 14th in program history and the 6-0 clearance is the seventh-highest cleared mark in program history. Riley Masten came in fifth with a height of 5-7 1/4 (1.71m).
 
Papay Glaywulu climbed to sixth in the Big Ten with a runner-up finish of 51-0 3/4 (15.56m) in the triple jump. Terrol Wilson recorded a finish of fourth with a jump of 50-7 1/2 (15.43m).
 
With a jump of 40-6 3/4 (12.36m), Ashley McElmurry recorded a second-place finish in the triple jump. Garrison Hughes placed fourth in the pole vault with a height of 16-7 1/4 (5.06m).
 
On the track, Dais Malebana won the mile with the ninth-fastest time in program history of 4:03.88.
Erika Freyhof placed second in the 3,000m with a run of 9:49.97, while Hannah Godwin covered the track in 4:54.89 to finish fourth in the mile.
 
Darius Luff had a second-place finish in the 60m hurdles with a run of 7.82, while Winsome Harris clocked an 8.46 and LaQwasia Stepney timed an 8.51 to place third and fourth in the 60m hurdles, respectively.
 
Emma Algarin placed third in the 200m (24.18) and fourth in the 60m (7.57), while Lorenzo Paissan ran a 6.76 to place fourth in the 60m and Alex Nelson timed a 21.37 to finish runner-up in the 200m.
 
Cory Berg, Nelson, Cody Mroczek and Nick Bryant clocked a time of 3:12.57 to place fourth in the 4x400m relay. The women’s 4x400m relay team made up of Ramonia Clarke, Harris, Karlie Moore and Kayla Hugg finished third with a time of 3:45.31
 
The Huskers compete in two meets weekend, with a portion of the team going to the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., and the rest venturing to the Gorilla Classic in Pittsburg, Kan.
