FGCU Grad Transfer Haanif Cheatham Commits to Play at NU

Haanif Cheatham, a grad transfer from Florida Gulf Coast University, announced via Twitter that he will play his final season of his NCAA career under Fred Hoiberg at Nebraska. This past season, the 6-foot-5 guard averaged 13.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.

The Fort Lauderdale, Florida native also shot 45.4 percent from the floor and made 65 percent of his attempts from the free throw line. Cheatham played at Marquette from 2015 until 2018, when he transferred to FGCU. However, Cheatham played in just 10 games for FGCU, as an injury cut his time short there. According to SB Nation, he struggled with a shoulder injury at Marquette that limited him to five games during the 2017-18 season.

While he was with the Golden Eagles though, Cheatham excelled, especially on the defensive side of the ball. He was named Marquette’s defensive player of the year twice, according to SB Nation.
