Fenner Earns Shane Osborn Student Leadership Award

Nebraska track and field and cross country student-athlete Sadio Fenner has been named a recipient of the University of Nebraska Alumni Association’s Shane Osborn Award.

Each year the alumni association awards five scholarships to current UNL students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership on campus and show a promising future. The awards will be presented at the Cornhusker Experience Gala hosted by the Student Alumni Association on April 15 at the Nebraska Champions Club.

A nutrition exercise and health science major, Fenner works as a part-time phlebotomist at CHI Health St. Elizabeth. He has volunteered at numerous community events and has held leadership positions on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, the Minority Student-Athlete Collective and the Big Ten Anti-Hate and Anti-Racism Coalition.

Fenner has also been an academic All-Big Ten selection, a Tom Osborne Citizenship Team member, a Sam Foltz Hero 27 Leadership Award recipient and a Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll.

A junior from Colorado Springs, Colorado, Fenner represented the Huskers at the 2020-21 Big Ten Cross Country Championships and competed as a freshman in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2019 Big Ten Outdoor Championships.
