Blackshirts “stop rate” 8th in nation

What is stop rate? It’s the percentage of a defense’s drives that end in punts, turnovers or a turnover on downs.

Per data from TruMedia and Pro Football Focus, Nebraska’s defense has faced 72 drives. 81.9% of them have ended in either a punt, turnover or turnover on downs. That’s good for 8th nationally, with only Iowa (2nd) ranked higher in the Big Ten.

Also, the Huskers have allowed only 1.07 points per drive, which is 7th nationally.

I had my doubts about this defense entering the season, but they’ve convinced me. And kudos for the offense over the last three weeks for not putting the defense in a no-win situation.
