The Corn Bowl

Michigan fan here with a proposal. Since the split title of ‘97 that never was settled on field, Michigan and Nebraska have both suffered some ups and downs on the gridiron. In addition to that, we are two of the few major programs with ties to the great Midwestern staple, corn. I’ll grant that the “Cornhuskers” mascot choice is more direct but Michigan does sport the “Maize and Blue” and against Washington the Big House looked more “corny” than I’ve seen any Nebraska game. To commemorate the shared experiences and affinity for starchy grains of both programs and fan-bases, I propose an unofficial moniker of the “Corn Bowl” for all meetings from here forward. This title has not been used for a college football game since the 1950’s and with so many historic programs from the cobb-filled Midwestern states, I believe it’s one that need to be given new life.
