Big Ten Announces Women’s Tennis Schedule

The Big Ten Conference announced the 2020-21 women’s tennis schedule Monday, Feb. 1. The Huskers are set to compete in 16 conference matches this season, including nine matches at home and seven on the road.

In an effort the limit travel, Nebraska will not compete against Michigan and Michigan State this season, instead facing Northwestern, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa twice. 

NU opens the season at the Dillon Tennis Center as they take on Northwestern (Feb. 13) and Illinois (Feb. 14). The Huskers then travel to Minnesota (Feb. 20) and Wisconsin (Feb. 21) for a pair of road matches. NU returns to Lincoln for a four-match stretch starting with a contest against Purdue (Feb. 27) and Indiana (Feb. 28). The following week, Nebraska welcomes Ohio State (March 6) and Penn State (March 7). The Huskers will travel for a rematch against Northwestern (March 13) and Illinois (March 14). NU will return to the Dillon Tennis Center to face Minnesota (March 20) and Wisconsin (March 21) for the second time. Nebraska then travels to Iowa City, Iowa for a matchup against the Hawkeyes (March 28). Following a bye week, Nebraska will head East to take on Maryland (April 10) and Rutgers (April 11).  Nebraska close’s out the regular season with a matchup against Iowa (April 18) at home.

In 2020, Nebraska competed in one Big Ten match, defeating Rutgers 6-1, before the season was suspended. The Huskers went 11-4 overall and 9-0 at home. NU returns eight letter winners from the 2020 team and adds three newcomers to the 2021 squad.
