Wednesday Frosted Flakes: What Do We Want To See Against Illinois

David McGee

Good Morning Corn Nation! What do we want to see our Huskers do against Illinois?

I rewatched the Northern Illinois game and for being so lopsided in the score, we still did not play very well. The defense executed better than the offense for most of the game, as it has every other game of the season thus far, but they still made plenty of mistakes. Coach Chinander has been putting our guys in the right position to make a play just about every time. There was one huge blow coverage early in the game, but their quarterback completely missed the receiver. I’d like to see the big mistakes go away so they can focus on the smaller ones.

The offense seems like they still cannot get anything blocked consistently. Not a single designed quarterback run has worked and that was our bread and butter last season. When we do get plays blocked, we end up with huge plays from our running backs. I’d like to see our offensive line execute consistently and get Adrian Martinez off to the races a few times.
