Troyer Set to Dive at Winter Nationals



All-American Sara Troyer will represent Nebraska in the one-meter and three-meter diving events at the 2021 USA Diving Winter Nationals this week in Bloomington, Ind.

Competition at USA Diving Winter Nationals began Monday and continues through Saturday, Dec. 18. Winter Nationals will feature more than 120 of the top divers in the country, chasing chances to qualify for the 2022 FINA World Championships and the 2022 World University Games.

The field of accomplished divers includes Olympic silver medalist Delaney Schnell (Arizona), 2020 Olympic team member Hailey Hernandez (Texas) and fellow Big Ten competitor and 2021 World Cup Silver Medalist, Sarah Bacon (Minnesota).

Troyer (Goshen, Ind.) is a four-time NCAA Zone Championships qualifier and earned a fourth-place finish in the three-meter in 2020.  She also qualified for the 2020 and 2021 NCAA Championships in both the one- and three-meter.

The senior has been a consistent contributor for the Huskers this season, collecting nine victories so far. In the first dual of the season, Troyer recorded a career-best three-meter score with a 345.68. When the Huskers traveled to Ames, Iowa to compete against the Cyclones, Troyer broke the 13-year-old facility record in the three-meter (343.20).

Troyer’s appearances at Winter Nationals begin on Thursday, Dec. 16, with the one-meter prelims at 9 a.m. (CT) on Dec. 16. Troyer is back in action on Friday, Dec. 17 with three-meter prelims starting at 9 a.m. (CT).
