With temperatures expected to be near record highs Saturday in the mid- to upper 90s, Nebraska Athletics is altering its usual policy on water bottles for fans attending the Huskers’ football game against Buffalo in Memorial Stadium.
Normally, only empty water bottles are allowed into the stadium for fans to fill at the fountains inside. For Saturday’s game only, fans will be allowed to bring in one full bottle of water.
The university also issued these tips and reminders:
- Dress appropriately for the weather, including wearing loose-fitting, light-colored clothing, sunglasses, sunscreen and a hat.
- Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated fluids, and avoid heavy meals. There will be water fountains throughout the stadium.
- Take a break from the heat as necessary, and contact the nearest stadium worker if you need assistance. The American Red Cross provides emergency medical services in the stadium and at first aid stations at these locations: Southeast corner of the field, East Stadium upper concourse, Northwest concourse and West Stadium Club Level.
- Nebraska Athletics has faced staffing challenges during the pandemic. Early arrival will help with lines at the concession stands.
Kickoff at Memorial Stadium is set for 2:40 p.m.
