Seven Huskers Earn Academic Honors



Seven Nebraska women’s golfers captured Academic All-Big Ten honors when the conference announced its spring award winners on Monday, June 26.

Lindsey Thiele, a junior psychology major from Wahoo, Nebraska, led the list of academic honorees with her 3.983 GPA. Graduate student Megan Whittaker from Elkhorn added a 3.897 GPA while pursuing her master’s degree in business analytics.

Juniors Michaela Vavrova (Bojnice, Slovakia) and Andrea Velez (Pereira, Colombia) joined sophomores Miu Takahashi (Nasu-machi, Japan), Lena Hassert (Kreuzau, Germany) and Brooke Bream (Phoenix, Arizona) in representing the Husker women’s golf program among the spring Academic All-Big Ten award winners.

The women’s golf honorees were among 131 Husker student-athletes to claim Academic All-Big Ten awards during the spring, including three from the men’s golf program, five each from the bowling and rifle programs, six each from beach volleyball, men’s tennis and women’s tennis, 12 from softball, 17 from baseball and 64 from the men’s and women’s track and field programs.
