Roby, Spence Named Big Ten Gymnasts to Watch

The Nebraska women’s gymnastics team had two gymnasts named to the Gymnasts to Watch list which was released by the Big Ten on Tuesday. 

Kynsee Roby, a first-team All-Big Ten selection, receives Big Ten Gymnast to Watch honors for the second year in a row. Roby had an impressive junior campaign competing in all 10 meets during the season and qualifying for the NCAA Regionals on beam and bars. The Gardner, Kansas, native, is expected to be a leader during the 2022 season. Roby has made an impact outside of the gym, earning a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll seven times, Academic All-Big Ten honors three times and a WCGA Scholastic All-American twice. She has also been named to the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team four times and earned the Sam Foltz 27 Hero Leadership Award. 

Emma Spence is one of six freshmen named a Big Ten Gymnast to Watch. Spence, a Cambridge, Ontario, native, joins the Huskers after serving as an alternate for Team Canada at the 2020 Olympics. Spence has a decorated elite career, finishing eighth on both balance beam and floor exercise at the 2021 Melbourne World Cup in Australia. She also placed third on vault and fourth in the all-around at Elite Canada in January of 2020. Spence is expected to make an impact in the all-around competition this year for the Huskers. 

The Huskers will open the 2021-22 season with a meet against No. 20 Iowa State on Friday, Jan. 7 at 6:30 p.m. CT. The meet will be streamed on ESPN+.
