Pluhowsky Wins the PWBA Tour Championship



RENO, Nev. – Husker legend Shannon Pluhowsky won the Professional Women’s Bowling Association Tour Championship that ran from Friday-Sunday.

 

The PWBA Tour Championship is the final event of the 2021 PWBA Tour season. It is also the third major of the season and marks the conclusion of the PWBA Fall Classic Series. Athletes compete for a $50,000 prize. 

 

Pluhowsky finished Friday and Saturday with 6,026 pinfall to earn her second seed position for Sunday’s stepladder finals. 

 

On Sunday, Pluhowsky faced Diana Zavjalova in the semifinals and won with a score of 289-199. She scored 10 consecutive strikes to move her onto the finals.

 

In the title match, Pluhowsky faced Bryanna Coté for the major title and $50,000 prize. She defeated Coté 244-178 for her second major title. 

 

Pluhowsky competed for the Huskers in 2001-2005 and won numerous awards, including National Bowler of the Year in 2001, 2004 and 2005 and MVP of the National Championship team in 2004. She was also an assistant coach for the National Championship team in 2021.
