Oklahoma City Magic! Husker Baseball Defeats Connecticut in NCAA Regional Opener 8-5

Defense leads Huskers past Huskies in opener

Nebraska has won an NCAA regional opening game for the first time since 2008. Nebraska was able to navigate 19 Connecticut hits and pounded out 13 of their own in a 8-5 victory for the Huskers over the Huskies.

Nate Fisher got the start for the Huskers. Fisher who pitched a gem last week against Iowa was in and out of trouble for his entire start today. He allowed a two run home run from Pat Winkel to put the Huskies up 2-0 in the first inning.

Angelo Altavilla answered right back in the second inning for the Huskers. Working against Huskies preseason All-American Mason Feole, Altavilla hit a 2-1 fastball just over the wall in left field for a solo home run.
