NU Heads to Alabama for Blue Gray Tennis Classic



The Nebraska men’s tennis team (4-4, 0-0 Big Ten) heads to the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic in Montgomery, Ala., for matches on Friday, Feb. 24 and Saturday, Feb. 25. 
 
The Huskers open play on Friday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. CT against No. 14 Arizona at Lagoon Park. Following that match, the Huskers will also play either No. 38 Alabama or No. 41 Oklahoma with doubles play starting at a time to be determined on Friday afternoon and the remainder of the match resuming on Saturday. 

Nebraska will also play a third game Saturday afternoon with the opponent and start time to be announced. 

 

Additionally, the tournament will feature No. 25 Middle Tennessee State, No. 36 Auburn, No. 44 Texas Tech and Tulane. 

 

Nebraska took part in the tournament last season and went 0-3 in matches against then-ranked No. 29 Princeton, No. 25 Auburn and Alabama.

Scouting Arizona (6-2, 0-0 PAC 12)

One of the best teams in the nation, the Wildcats have four ranked singles players in the top 125. Arizona enters its match against Nebraska on a one-game losing skid after a 5-2 defeat to No. 2 Texas. 

Series History Against Arizona

Nebraska is 2-1 all-time against Arizona. The Huskers won the first two matchups in 2007 and 2010 and lost the most recent match in 2018. 

Scouting Alabama (8-2, 0-0 SEC)

The Crimson Tide have two ranked singles players, both in the top 100. 

Series History Against Alabama 

Nebraska is 0-1 all-time against Alabama, with the lone loss coming in this tournament last season.  

 

Scouting Oklahoma (6-3, 0-0 Big 12) 

The Sooners have four singles players ranked in the top 125 and one pair of players ranked No. 60 in doubles.

Series History Against Oklahoma

Nebraska is 6-19 all-time against Oklahoma. The Huskers’ last win came in Lincoln in 2007 when they took down Oklahoma, 5-2.
