Nebraska’s Blaise Keita enters the transfer portal

Nebraska forward Blaise Keita has entered the transfer portal, according to a report from On3.

Keita spent two years at NU, missing the final month of 2022-23 with an ankle injury and all of last season with the same ailment. He’s the third Husker to leave since Nebraska’s season ended in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Nebraska now has four open scholarships.

Keita, originally from Mali, came to the United States at age 17 and began his college career at Coffeyville Community College in Coffeyville, Kansas.

In his one active season at Nebraska, he played 10 minutes per game, tasked primarily with grabbing rebounds and protecting the rim.

Amid a slow recovery from ankle surgery, he didn’t suit up for a game until January in his second season. Even then, Keita was only available in the case of an emergency. He could step onto the floor and get a rebound but wasn’t able to consistently run up and down the floor, coach Fred Hoiberg said at the time.

Keita wasn’t in uniform for the final game of the season.
