Huskers Win Five Events at Prairie Wolf Invitational



A portion of the Nebraska track and field team competed at the Prairie Wolf Invitational, combining for five event victories on Friday at the Devaney Center Indoor Track.

Elliott Purdy posted two top-three finishes, winning the shot put (49-7, 15.11m) and finishing third in the weight throw (50-4 1/2, 15.35m).

Nyabuay Diew had a distance of 43-11 3/4 (13.40m) to win the shot put, while Karlie Moore won the 200m with a run of 25.52. Cory Berg took the title in the men’s 200m with time of 22.20, followed by Cody Mroczek (22.46) in third and Tyler Drew (22.49) in fourth.

Vincent Ohlman was crowned champion in the 60m hurdles with a finish of 8.27. Micaylon Moore clocked a 7.02 to finish runner-up in the 60m, while Zach Podraza placed fifth with a time of 7.27.

Clayton Keys had a third-place finish with a run of 51.32 in the 400m. On the women’s side, Kaitlyn Krason ran a 1:01.14 to place fifth in the 400m.

Jamieson Battistella covered the track in 2:21.46 with a third-place finish in the 800m and Teri Zanker finished fourth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.23.

The Huskers placed three in the top-six of the women’s mile, led by Cami Merickel in third with a run of 5:20.95. Maddie Portwine clocked a 5:25.39, followed by Elizabeth Robertson with a finish of 5:25.51 to place fifth and sixth, respectively.

Betty Rosvold had a toss of 49-2 1/4 (14.99m) to finish third in the weight throw, while Lincoln McPhillips cleared 6-6 (1.98m) with a third-place finish in the high jump.

Sandy Leybold had a leap of 17-6 3/4 (5.35m) to place third in the long jump, followed by Kerrigan Myers in fourth (17-6, 5.33m). Zanker placed eighth with a jump of 16-5 (5.00m).

The Huskers host the Mark Colligan Memorial tomorrow at the Devaney Center Indoor Track. Field events begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by running events starting at 12:15 p.m.
