Huskers Third after Day Two at Bearcat Roto Grip Open



Fairview, Ill. – The Nebraska bowling team went 3-1 on Saturday at the Bearcat Roto Grip Open bringing its record to 6-3 for the first two days of the tournament. Entering the final day of competition, the Huskers sit in third with a total pinfall of 9,733. 

The Huskers, who are third in the NTCA poll, won against Tusculum (927-830), Upper Iowa (989-894) and Lincoln Memorial (1,035-1,022) as well as a BYE round where the Huskers earned a total of 1,010 pins. The Huskers took only one loss against No. 25 Newman (929-1,030). 

Three Huskers currently sit in the top 25 of the individual standings after today’s five traditional matches. Freshman Jillian Martin is in seventh with a pinfall of 1,051. Senior Kendyl Hofmeister is in 17th (986) and Crystal Elliott is in 22nd (954). 

The Big Red will resume play tomorrow for the third and final day of the tournament at 8:30 a.m. (CT) against No. 15 Maryville in the traditional format.  

Results from Friday and Saturday along with the single traditional match Sunday morning will determine the seeding for Sunday’s Championship bracket. During this championship tournament each team will compete in a best four-of-seven Baker style match beginning immediately after the first traditional round.
