Huskers Take First at the Track Kat Klash



Houston, TX- The Nebraska bowling team went 11-2 over the weekend with a total pinfall of 13,900 at the Track Kat Klash. This performance landed them first place in the overall standings.

NU started Sunday with a match against North Carolina A&T. The Huskers won the first two games 235-215 and 233-214. The Aggies bounced back and won the next two games 188-246 and 221-247. Nebraska took back control with a 248-189 win and sealed the match with a close score of 195-193 in the final game. This victory sent the Huskers directly to the championship match against Sam Houston State.

Huskers started off their first game with a loss of 231-244. NU then came back strong to take a win in the second game (268-183). The Bearkats took the third game with a score of 193-207. The Huskers bounced back strong in the fourth game (246-174), before Sam Houston State battled back to take the fifth game (156-201). The Huskers took back control in the sixth game (238-176) and secured the title in the final game with six consecutive strikes (237-207). 

Junior Crystal Elliott finished second in Individual Standings and snagged a spot on the All-Tournament team with a 226 average.

“Another solid weekend for the team,” said Head Coach Paul Klempa. “Their work ethic is so good in preparation and it pays dividends in these tight, highly contested matches for tournament titles. I could not be prouder of how well they represent themselves and Nebraska while competing. They play like champions and act like champions. They continue to impress us each week.”

The Huskers will return to the lanes next Friday through Sunday at the SFA Ladyjacks Hammer Classic in Kenosha, Wis.
