Huskers Sign Top 2023 Recruit Brenna Hartzler

Lincoln – The Nebraska bowling team announced the signing of the top recruit in the class, Brenna Hartzler (Smithville, Ohio), on Tuesday for the 2023-24 season.

Despite not having a high school bowling team, Hartzler did not let that stop her from becoming a decorated and accomplished bowler. Hartzler currently has four 300 games under her belt and a high series of 761.

Throughout her high school career, Hartzler has accumulated numerous championship titles and awards, beginning with the 12U and 15U divisions where Hartzler won multiple titles and was named the Kentucky Youth Bowling Tour Bowler of the Year.

As she progressed the success continued, highlighted by four 2021 Ohio State championship titles in addition to being named Youngstown Youth Masters Open Champion. In 2022, Hartzler was a Kentucky Youth Champion while breaking numerous records and claiming more than 15 additional titles.

This season, Hartzler qualified fifth and placed 12th at Junior Gold and was a JTBA Adult Junior Champion.

“Brenna is a very accomplished player who we are excited to have join Husker Bowling.” Head Coach Paul Klempa said. “As the top recruit in the class of 2023, Brenna has been very competitive on the national level and brings valuable experience to our program. She is equally impressive in the classroom and in her community as well. Brenna will make great contributions in her career at Nebraska, and we are excited she has decided to join us.”

Academically, Hartzler holds herself to high academic standards. Hartzler currently holds a 3.65 GPA (4.0 scale) as well as a 3.9 GPA (5.0 honor course weight) and is already enrolled in multiple college credit courses through the University of Akron.

“I chose Nebraska because it felt like home,” Hartzler said. “I know there are endless amounts of opportunities to be successful.”

Hartzler is the daughter of Julie and Al Hartzler and has an older sister, Brittany.
