Huskers Set to Take on Buckeyes for Senior Night



The No. 3 Nebraska men’s gymnastics team (1-3) is set to take on No. 4 Ohio State (3-1) this Saturday, March 6 at 4:00 p.m. CT in Lincoln, Neb. at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. The Big Ten matchup this Saturday will count towards the Big Ten regular season championship standings. 

Last Time Out

The Huskers are coming off a tough loss against Michigan and Illinois where they fell 401.600 to 405.550 (Illinois) and 413.300 (Michigan). Despite the loss, NU was still able to take home one individual title. Taylor Christopulos claimed the vault title after notching a 14.75. This was Christopulos’ third vault title in as many meets. Christopulos went on to win Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors for his performance in Champaign. 

NU goes into week eight ranked second as a team on floor, pommel horse and vault, third on high bar, and seventh on rings and parallel bars. 

Scouting the Competition

The Buckeyes are coming to Lincoln for the first time since 2018 when the Huskers beat the Buckeyes 411.750-404.150. OSU extended their win streak to three after outscoring Penn State 405.500-403.900. This was Ohio State’s highest team score of the year. 

OSU is led by junior Jesse Tyndall, brother of current Husker gymnast Mitch Tyndall. Jesse Tyndall consistently leads the Buckeyes on floor, rings, vault, parallel bars and high bar. Against Penn State, Tyndall claimed the parallel bars title with a score of 14.30. Sophomore Donavan Hewitt claimed Ohio State’s other individual title of the meet after notching a 14.55 on vault.
