NU returns to competition for the first time in 330 days after the 2020 season ended early due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Huskers finished the season 7-2 and 2-1 in Big Ten competition. Nebraska’s 2020 campaign was highlighted by 43 career-high scores and 13 individual titles. The Huskers return 17 gymnasts from the 2020 season and introduce three newcomers on the roster for 2021.

Scouting the Competition

Michigan opened their season with a 409.000-328.100 win over Illinois-Chicago on Sunday, Jan. 17 which was contested virtually (the first of its kind in NCAA history). Sophomore Paul Juda won five individual titles against the Flames (floor exercise, vault, parallel bars, high bar and all-around competition) which earned him CGA Gymnast-of-the-Week honors.

The Wolverines are coming off an impressive 11-1 season in 2020. Michigan returns 13 gymnasts to their 2021 roster and are led by Juda, who was awarded Big Ten Freshman-of-the-Year and claimed CGA All-America honors on high bar after leading the nation with an average score of 14.08. They are coached by Kurt Golder who earned Big Ten Coach-of-the-Year honors. Golder enters his 25th season as the head coach for the men’s gymnastics team at Michigan.
