Huskers Host Masters Classic – University of Nebraska



The Nebraska women’s gymnastics team (5-6, 4-4 Big Ten) are set to host the Masters Classic which will include Lindenwood and George Washington. The meet is set to start at 6:30 p.m. CT at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln, Neb. 

 

The Huskers last hosted the Masters Classic in 2019 when they hosted No. 9 Kentucky and Illinois State. NU finished in first with a 197.625 followed by Kentucky (197.200) and Illinois State (191.625). 


Last Time Out

NU is coming off of a close loss to the No. 1 Michigan Wolverines. The Big Red battled with the top-rated team, claiming the vault high score, an event that UM is ranked first in. 

Sophomore Kinsey Davis led the Huskers, claiming the uneven bars title. Davis notched a career-high 9.975, the second-highest score in the nation. 


Scouting the Competition

George Washington (11-10) retuns to Lincoln for the first time since 1995 when the Huskers won 192.500-186.225. NU currently  leads the series, 3-0. GW is led by Kendall Whitman, who earned a 9.925 on floor in their meet against NC State and Temple. 

 

Lindenwood (7-5) returns to Lincoln for the first time since 2015 when the Huskers won 195.300-190.550. NU leads the series 2-0.  The Lions are led by former Nebraska student-athlete Catelyn Orel who competed for the Huskers from 2015-19. Michelle Reed leads the Lions on vault, posting a 9.825 against Iowa State while Gayla Griswold and Hadley Roberts each notched a 9.825 on beam for Lindenwood.
