Huskers Fall to Nittany Lions



University Park, PA. – The Nebraska men’s gymnastics team fell to Penn State Sunday afternoon 403.050-406.900. 

Freshman Taylor Christopulos led the Huskers with an impressive debut earning the vault title with a score of 14.55. Sophomore Cooper Giles notched a career-high score of 14.10 to claim the pommel horse title. 

Despite falling to the Nittany Lions, the Huskers had five gymnasts earn career-high scores. 

Rotation One

Nebraska started the meet off on pommel horse. Cooper Giles led the Huskers with a career-high score and the pommel horse title with a score of 14.10. Redshirt sophomore Khalil Jackson followed closely with a career-high score of 14.00. Senior Mitch Tyndall also notched a career-high score with a 13.80. Juniors Evan Kriley and Charlie Giles followed with a 13.45 and 13.30, respectively. Freshman Yanni Chronopoulos made his debut as a Husker and rounded out the rotation with a 12.25.

The Huskers moved to the second rotation after posting a team score of 68.650 on pommel horse. Penn State started the meet on floor with a team score of 70.45, their highest of the season. 

Rotation Two

The Huskers competed on floor for their second rotation where sophomore Sam Phillips led the team with a score of 14.05, a career-high for Phillips. Freshman Taylor Christopoulos made his debut as a Husker on floor with a score of 13.85. Sophomore Dylan Young followed closely with a score of 13.65. Charlie Giles notched a 13.50 while senior Jake Bonnay earned a 13.20. Sophomore Moritz Mueller finished the rotation with a score of 12.80. NU finished with a team score of 68.250. 

The Nittany Lions finished the second rotation on pommel horse with a team score of 65.550. 

Rotation Three

NU moved to vault where Taylor Christopulos led the team with a 14.55, the highest score of the meet. Junior Dylan LeClair matched his career-high score of 14.05 while Dylan Young earned a new career-high of 13.95. Yanni Chronopoulos earned a 13.85. Charlie Giles finished with a 13.80 while junior Evan Kriley finished with a 12.80. 

Nebraska finished with a team score of 70.200 while Penn State finished on rings with a team score of 66.950. 

The Huskers moved into the fourth rotation leading the Nittany Lions 207.100-202.950.

Rotation Four

The Huskers continued to rings where they had a team score of 66.650. Nebraska was led by Taylor Christopulos and Dylan Young who both scored a 13.60. Evan Hymanson followed with a 13.35. Yanni Christopoulos and Moritz Mueller both notched a 13.05. Sam Phillips rounded out the rotation with a 12.05. 

The Nittany Lions finished rotation four on vault with a team score of 70.900. 

Rotation Five

Evan Hymanson led the team on high bar with a score of 13.35 during the fifth rotation. Dillan King followed closely with a 13.10. Jake Bonnay earned a 12.95 while Griffin Kehler notched a 12.90. Taylor Christopulos finished with a 12.85 while Sam Phillips ended the rotation with a 11.20. 

Nebraska went into the final rotation behind 338.900-340.350. 

Rotation Six

The Huskers finished on parallel bars where they had a team score of 64.150. Dylan LeClair led the team with a score of 13.10 while Dylan Young followed closely with a score of 13.05. Griffin Kehler notched a 12.80. Dillan King earned a 12.70. Evan Hymanson finished with a 12.50. Mitch Tyndall rounded out the meet with a 12.25. 

The Huskers fell to the Nittany Lions 403.050-406.900.
